EN : War… Such a horrible word that turned the lives of millions upside down. An event that seemed to be somewhere far away, nowhere close to me. Although the conflicts in Ukraine began in 2014, few thought that war would become a reality for everyone. Under the guise of events that echo World War II came massive rocket attacks, tank battles, aerial bombardments and the deaths of thousands of soldiers. The war was fought under extreme conditions: air raids and the deaths of thousands. How could this happen in the middle of Europe in the 21st century? February 24, 2022 showed that anything is possible when a state with imperialist attitudes is standing right next to you.
After February 24, thousands of women who had previously built their careers, made plans for the next vacation, and looked for gift ideas for their loved ones were faced with an impossible decision: how to save their most precious treasure – their children, their parents, even their lives? These women tried to do it with the means at their disposal, such as their own car, an evacuation train and on foot. They did everything that would later become another page in modern Ukrainian history. Women who have finally started life anew have brought to bear an inner strength they had never even dreamed of, survived and found new opportunities where there seemed to be no way out. They mastered new skills, learned new languages in a short space of time, made thousands of meatballs, cooked borscht to sell, wove camouflage nets and collected money to buy armour and first-aid kits. It’s only late at night, when the children are asleep, that they can express their feelings, but not for long, as someone could sneak up on them. Each of these women has her own story that must not be forgotten. It is, in fact, our common story, a story of resilience, faith, hope and opportunity.

The stories were originally written by the participants of the project in Ukrainian, then translated into French.
UA : Війна… Таке страшне слово, яке перевернуло догори-дригом життя мільйонів людей. Подія, яка здавалось може бути десь там, далеко, не зі мною. І хоч війна в Україні розпочалась в 2014 році, але… але ж мало хто вважав, що це станеться із ним, із кожним з нас. Ще й в такому форматі – форматі подій з часів Другої світової війни. З масовими ракетними обстрілами, танковими боями, авіаційними нальотами та загибеллю тисяч осіб. Як таке взагалі можливо у 21 столітті в географічному центрі Європи? Але 24 лютого 2022 року продемонструвало, що все можливе, якщо поряд із твоєю домівкою є держава з імперськими настроями.
Після 24 лютого тисячі жінок, які до цього будували свою кар’єру, мали плани на літню відпустку, шукали ідеї для подарунка коханому…тепер всі вони мали ухвалити непросте рішення – як їм врятувати свій найцінніший скарб – своїх дітей, батьків, своє життя. Тепер ці жінки намагались це зробити тими засобами, які були їм доступні. Власне авто, евакуаційний потяг, пішки.. Вони робили все те, що потім стане ще однією сторінкою в новітній історії України і не тільки. Жінки, які зрештою, розпочали наново своє життя, запустили такі секретні механізми своїх організмів, про які навіть і не сподівались, виживали та знаходили нові можливості там, де здавалось немає виходу. Опановували нові навички, вчили за короткий термін нові мови, в перерві ліпили тисячі вареників для продажу, щоб задонатити щей для наших найкращих військових котиків, плели маскувальні сітки, варили борщі, збирали гроші на броніки та аптечки.. І тільки пізно вночі, коли діти спали, могли дати волю своїм почуттям, але не надовго, бо хтось міг побачити. Кожна з таких жінок має свою історію, яка не повинна зникнути, бо, власне, це наша спільна історія – історія незламності, віри, надії та можливостей.

Усі ці розповіді були написані учасницями проєкту українською мовою, а потім перекладені на французьку.
